What a great league
Congratulations to our newly elected league officers, I know they will maintain the high standards of the WHACS league. It is with many emotions I announce my temporary retirement from WHACS due to medical issues. For 6 seasons I have thoroughly enjoyed racing around the bases and all the camaraderie of this fantastic league. I encourage all to cherish each game while we are young and healthy enough to play this wonderful past time. May God bless you all

My tribute to Artie
I was a newbie to the League again after my being out for several years with surgeries and life events. Artie and I had a rough patch on my return when he would get personal. But I learned that that was how Artie was and we kissed and made up with fist bumps. I am glad now as I didn't know about his health issues before his passing. I know he was a big part of the League and will be sorely missed. Artie and his family are in my prayers in this time of sadness and loss.

Artie Ropers
I was shocked to hear the news about my friend Artie Ropers. My condolences go out to his family.Artie was very committed to the WHACS organization in every aspect. He worked very hard to see that everything was taken care of for each and every game.He took alot of responsibility upon himself that no one else would take.I will miss him mostly because he was my friend. He is no longer suffering.May he rest in peace. Our friend
Judy Olsen was called home to heaven this week. Surely one of the kindest people I've met. Years ago, Jenny and Judy would bring their little chairs and sit watching the games, Jenny said I think Judy knows a lot about softball and I sure enjoy sitting with her, the next couple of seasons, Glenn somehow ended up on my team which was great for them both. Cancer is a horrible disease which devastates all our lives, and many of the treatments are hard and strenuous. We will miss Judy, she was a giver and a kind soul. Be kind to one another

Election discussion(s)
I agree to a point with both Bill and Drew: “discussion” is certainly necessary, but not on this forum. However, the “ league” has issues much greater than softball, which is only a committee of the non-profit corporation, i.e. West Hernando Athletic Club Seniors, INC.. Those administrative/legal concerns can only be discussed throughly in a face-to-face meeting where Members who are interested have a say for the betterment of the Corporation and its related committees. The new Board of Directors for 2025-26 will need that input, and more, to govern according to the established Bylaws of the Corporation.

Response to Bill
I Know your intentions are good. But to use this site could put Tony P. In a tough situation. First ,being responsible for entering messages is time consuming. Then have someone claim he misread the message. I can see issues here. What I am in favor of is having a meeting ,or a couple of meetings after second games. This, before the general meeting. Our league is not perfect, we can improve, but only in a positive approach.

Upcoming WHACS Elections
Yesterday at lunch several members had a discussion about our upcoming elections. If it is appropriate, I think we should use this site for discussion of the election. I would like to hear from everyone who intends to run about their vision for the future of the league which would include any suggestions they may have to improve the league. Also, any player may post their suggestions on what they would like to see as far as changes to the league.

Day at the races
Another wonderful WHACS event, the day at the races. I really enjoyed the outing, and so did my Papa. I saw alot of friends and it was a great time for all. Thanks to All Johnson who stepped up to organize this fun event. Our league president Charlie led off with a prayer for our friend Artie. Thanks to this league Artie has many people who care about him including Tony Mazola who thankfully checked in on Artie. Being a member of this league is so much more than softball, it means we're all surrounded by people who truly care

Artie
Thoughts and prayers for Artie! I hope he gets back on the field fully recovered soon. I had minor strokes before my heart surgeries and they are no fun, so I know.

Each players personal information

WHY fill out an application every year if the League/Board Members /Managers DON'T use them? I submitted an application for the 2024/2025 season with ALL of my information, but it was ALL wrong on the website EXCEPT for my name! I contacted the website facilitator to correct this including the positions that I play. I had two heart surgeries and knee replacement three years ago now. It concerns me that my emergency contact information may NOT be correct either based on the website errors but that doesn't show on the website for me to correct, if needed! I just want to have fun playing as much softball as I can for as long as I am healthy, and I can still play!
