Larry Dodson
It is with sincere sorrow that I write this. I didn’t know Larry Dodson like most of you did but I did have the privilege to get to work with him for a short time. Larry was a really good guy with kind heart. I find some comfort in his passing as I remember his last text to me. He told me, “God has been watching over me.” I trust he is playing ball in our Savior’s presence and is pitching a perfect game. We are praying for the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to his wife and family. Thank you Lord for allowing me the privilege of knowing Larry Dodson.
Resignation
Yes there was an unfortunate incident last week. I am quite sure that Mr R did not mean to follow thru upon his threat to terminate my life. More likely in the heat of the moment and the competition of the game, words were spoken by all parties involved that we all likely regret. I however am a board member and therefore am held to a higher standard. I therefore resign as board member immediately and step down from the players committee. It is time for me to be focused on my growing family. I apologize for any part I had in the conflict there is no excuse. I have enjoyed serving the WHACS and I especially enjoyed our opening day ceremonies. It is with heavy heart but great optimism for the future of our great league that I pass the torch. May God bless you all
Action required
I have just read Al Schmidt's posting regarding a very disturbing, alleged incident at today's (September 29th) games, i.e. a "threat" issued by a player to another player. Rather than post the fact of it on this medium, the incident should be documented and forwarded to both the Board of Directors and the Player Committee for determination as to any action required. The Corporate Bylaws and the Softball Playing Rules (Article I, Section 14-a, "Player Conduct) both speak to such incidents. Al is correct in his assessment, if the allegation is true, that this matter should not be ignored for the sake of the player(s) involved as well as the integrity of our Club.
WHACS
At the end of the game today I heard a member of the WHACS threaten to kill another member. This is only a game, the only thing we win is a patch nothing more. It's sorry to see that the WHACS have turned to this type of behavior. I sure hope that the management removes this player from any and all remaining games and forbid him from returning in the future. This can not be something that is let go, who will next.
Ross retirement
Ross…
So sorry to hear of your retirement. The 5 years I played with the WHACS I never met a more kind man. You and your wife are “Good People”. I never once heard a negative word from you or about you. That is quite a legacy to leave behind. Wish you and your family the very best and Georgina and I will be praying for you to get back to good health. God Bess you Ross.
All the best
Ross,
Tough call but understandable. Thanks! for your dedication to the Club over the years as a player and member: greatly appreciated. Will miss you on the field, but will look forward to seeing you on the sidelines.
I have your well-deserved 2022-23 Legion team Championship patch!
Ross:
You were a terrific team mate and I enjoyed playing with and against you!
You will certainly be missed on the field and glad to know you'll stop by soon.
Retirement
It is with my deepest regret that I will no longer be able to play softball. I received my CAT scan results and my lower back and pelvis are not in good shape at all from a previous injury years ago. I would just like to say that I had the greatest time playing with all of you over the last 11 years and hope that you all have a safe and great season. It was a pleasure playing with a great organization that we have and I hope that it continues . Once I get back to Florida, I will be at the ballfield even though I can’t play. most of all have fun and stay safe. Ross
